From Molly: Today we went with our tour guide Skye to the Forbidden City.
Let me just say there are over 9,999.5 rooms and it took us over 2 hrs to finish the tour. The .5 of a room is because theres a narrow hallway type room which is only considered half a room.
From Toby: On Saturday we went on a plane to Auckland and when we landed we got off the plane and I ran straight to DUNKIN DONUTS!!!!!!!
I bought a PINEAPPLE DONUT!!!!!!!!!! After that, we got onto the flight to China and it was the worst flight ever! When we got off the plane we hopped into the shuttle and it took us to our hotel. After that we met our guide, Skye and Mum asked Skye where we could get something to eat and she suggested MCDONALDS!!!!!!!!!!!! The burgers in Beijing are way worse than ours.
Then Skye took us to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City and we had an ice-cream because it was so hot!
Next we went to the Drum Tower and Bell Tower, but first Skye took us to an awesome dumpling restaurant for lunch.
At the Drum Tower there was a huge performance and at the Bell Tower there was a bell that weighs 65 tonnes.
Then Skye took us to the Hutongs which are old courtyard alleys and we had candyfloss that was twice the size of my head but Mum made me share with Molly.
Now we are going to the food markets to look at the weird and wonderful food.
From Donna and Clyde
The flight was tortituous - long and tiring and we were straight into touring around Beijing as soon as we arrived so we can make the most of our short time here.
Toby's high class gastronomic tour is not going to last - McD's was an easy option with two scratchy, hungry pre-teens after a very long flight and a big day ahead of us, but we are not planning on making a habit of it.
We have packed a lot into the day thanks to Skye. The magnitude of Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are mind-blowing and Molly and Toby seem to attract a lot of attention and stares from local tourists. Skye said she heard a lot of people talking about the pretty tall white girl with the brown hair.

Joanna Gosh, I think it was just yesterday that I drove past Donna, Molly and Toby when you were standing outside the vets and to think that between then and now, you have done all that! It's hard to imagine doing all that sightseeing straight after a longhaul flight so you all must be exhausted! It is great reading your blog and lovely that you are all writing something. Looking forward to the next installment :)
