Wednesday was a brighter day, we awoke feeling refreshed and decided to make the most of the sunny day and do lots of reading on the loungers in the garden area.
We reflected on our time in Vietnam which had felt to be more chaotic than Laos. A few things i hadn't mentioned previously like the "same same but different" quote in south east Asia which is used a lot when they are referring to most things - this is also tackily printed on tops out here, I haven't yet got one.
We also thought about how we hadn't bumped into a character called Phillipe again who we had met on the Ha Long bay boat trip and feared we would be stuck with him in Laos when we knew he was flying to the same place on the same day. Now this is quite a lot of information on this guy but we felt it was worth mentioning as he was certainly different.... Phillipe wasn't a bad person, just too posh for most and lacked social skills. He had studied anthropology and uni, wore speedos and goggles while he chose to swim butterfly style and wanted to be an actor. This combination was too much for most people. We even met another group of people back on the boat trip who were referring to him as 'sh*t chat'. You might think this is mean, but I was the most polite to him out of our lot and he was stalking a poor girl who had food poisoning who couldn't escape his company because she was too weak. On the boat in our group one day he tried to make conversation with me by taking me through the evolution of man and the next day was reciting Shakespeare - but Aussie Jess being hungover bluntly told him to shut the eff up! Which then caused a comical argument and I pretended I'd gone to sleep by the time it had finished as Lauren was giving me dagger eyes that he was hovered over her in the aisle about to go from a midsummers night dream into Macbeth. Anyway I never wrote about it at the time in case we bumped into him again and he read my blog, but I think I might be safe. We never saw Phillipe (who was a well known charater after that trip) again.
Back to the present......Wednesday was a pretty boring day with the only excitement that I was being constantly attacked by the same hover fly which Lauren found funny. We had a film night and watched 'Blended' and then the girls Saffi, Lauren 2, Becky and Katie popped
over and filled us in on their antics the day before.
Lauren was distraught to see our final films of the night were both horror (annabelle and jessabelle) and we both chilled on our phones before getting another early night.
