Friday
I got up on my own and went and did some photo sorting at the Internet cafe for a few hours. When I was done I returned to the hostel and Lauren was getting up so we chilled by the pool for a bit before checking out. Dylan met us and we all went to a sandwich place he'd recommended where I went for a salad (we eat so much bread out here) and shared an amazing chocolate caramel tart with Loz. On the way back we nipped through the market and I bought a couple of new tops after the hostel had lost one of mine in the laundry (I was really annoyed as I'd only worn it once). We chilled back at the hostel, Dylan brought a sewing kit over so I could sow up the three tears in my bags which had kept being stressful to close! Lauren had a glass cover put on her phone after mine being broken, and we then spent some more time in the Internet cafe uploading photos and backing things up before getting picked up by a tuk tuk at half 6 to go the airport (our flight wasn't until 9pm and again I was calling Lauren Monica).
At the airport I managed to have a quick chat to my mum, sister, auntie and grandad who were visiting the German market at home. Unfortunately I later found out that my Grandad had had a fall that night so as I'm writing this I'm sending my love to him and hoping he'll feel better soon. We got free snacks as we were flying with Bangkok airways and we were both nervous when Lauren's name was called out to go up to the desk, but it was a simple seat swap for the both of us to, 'balance out the plane' which made us both a bit worried with flashbacks of the last flight!
We were sad to be leaving Cambodia which I've felt has been a fantastic place to visit that I'd say for me it even beats Vietnam. The people had been super friendly - there wouldn't be a day where you'd smile at someone and they wouldn't smile back. I'd enjoyed eating Khmer coconut chicken curry, the transportation around wasn't too bad and I generally felt like we got down to a level of learning about the locals more than we had in the other two counties.
Our flight was fine and we arrived in Bangkok where Lauren got a free Thai sim to txt her friend, Carly, and after we managed to work out the taxi ticketing system, we hopped in a taxi to her apartment. When we arrived she had left us a message out to say to help ourselves to anything - the place was amazing. Carly came back not long after and we had a beer and a glass of wine together and just sat chatting until around 2am when we finally went to bed. I was so glad to be around home comforts for the weekend that I could have cried. A bit of English TV and Carly was kind enough even let us stop in her bed which was so comfy. We got a great nights sleep.
