So lets start with the plane journey...7 hours on a bumpy night flight to Dubai
was jam packed with fun as you can imagine. We pretty much hit turbulance as soon as we
got into the air which was perfect. We decided to have half a diazpiam each to take the edge
off a bit. Evetually it did calm down but it doesnt put you at ease when the pilot requests the
cabin crew to their seats also.Anway,it got better but Jonnys face was white through out the entire
flight. He ended up watching the entire plane journey on the little Tv screen infront of his chair
because he was so uhappy about it. I had to pretend to be brave throughout the flight to try keep him
cheerful. Anyway so eventually we landed in Dubai at 7 o clock in the morning Dubai time ( OctobOer 4th 2013)
Our baggage came straight through which we was pleased about. So we left the airport and was pretty
much thrown into a brankng spanking new lexus air conditioned to the max with a driver suited and booted#
very posh ha :) The hotel was literally a 10 minute taxi drive away, we ended up paying 100 Dubai Dirhiams which
is about £16 but we cant complain for the service we got. I felt a bit like a celeb. Posh and Becks style
wel maybe not that fair. So anyway we checked into a basic but very nice kingsize room in the hote
and headed straight out because we thought we had this whole travelling thing sussed aready. But clearly
we was wrong! We jumped onto the first free shuttle bus at 8:30 thinking we were heading to Dubais
famous palm island but well somehow ended up at Juremirah Beach. Maybe we should have realised when all
the other people were carrying beach bags and wearing bikinis haha my bad :) So we decide to clever AGAIN
and get a taxi back to the hotel to start again. So this time we think lets be simple and head to the Dubai mall
which we got confused with WAFI mall the local mall to the hotel. So we arrive at this WAFI mall at this point
still thinking we are Dubai mall and head straight in. It was lovely, full of very expensive shops but we soon
realised that this was not Dubai mall as it was missing all the key attractions listed in the gudie. So we spent
around 20 mins and then decided to leave and make a second attempt to head the Dubai mall. Second time lucky :)
We managed to get a taxi straight to it. The Dubai mall is AMAZING. I would say its at least 10 times maybe more,
bigger than the Trafford Centre. Every shop imagineable is in that place. We saw an ice skating rink, waterfalls, aquariams
,candy shops just loads. We ended up going through the underwater zoo in a shopping mall which was rather odd. Will try
add picutres to show you. So anyway we spent arouns 2 and half hours in the maell and then decidied to head back to the hotel
for a shower and to get ready to go out that night and meet jonnys family friends. We went to an area called Souk al Bahar
which was right near the dubai mall and very posh. There were huge dancing fountains like the ones you see on the adverts for vegas
ands lots of nice bars, restauraunts, cafes and shop. We decided to eat in a Texas Steakhouse purley because it looked the cheapest
and were tight ha. The food was fab we had a huge strater platter between us and big burgers for our mains and it cost us something
along the lines of £35 not to bad. Latwer that night we met David and his wife who were a nice coupe at a local shisha bar where we shared
an orange shisha between us to me it had no flavour but jonny liked it .David said we had been to probably the only two bars in that area
that were dry aka no alcohol ha trust us. Anyway he moved us on to a terrace bar looking straight across the fountains to the Burj Khalija
the worlds tallest building,i think the bar was called the mango tree. It was nice but the price was NOT £50 was the cheapest bottle of wine
on the menu. Oh dear, lucky enough david treated us to one of our two bottles as a travelling present. We had a really great night they
told us all about their lifestyle living in Dubai and the best places to go see so it was good fun,. We also learnt all the horror stories you
hear about Dubai are not true for example you can drink and hold hands. Well that was our first day wil add another blog very soon about or second day
missing you all very much lots of love a very tired kerris and jonny xxxx
