I forgot to tell you about my portuguese teacher! Senhora Noelía is from the Azore islands (where my heritage is from) and she has a very strong portuguese accent and talks very loud but is so so sweet and i can tell she loves teaching even though half the things she says are half english half portuguese and she assumes we know what she´s talking about haha. Nevertheless, she is VERY sweet and willing to answer any questions and help at any time. I was really tired because we stayed out late last night. Anna and I went with a group from the language school to the nicest Municipal market in portugal. It was a huge 3 story market with restaurants, a whole floor filled with a huge section of fresh caught fish (some still alive, I saw live eels still squirrming around, yikes), fresh fruit, beans, pastries, cheese, and meat. It was really cool to see, ive never seen anything like it. After we had lunch we took a bus for €1,65 each way to the Praio de Faro, the closest beach. It was beautiful and I fell asleep on the beach, getting a nice tan :). The water was cold at first, but then was fine as most oceans are. I happened to randomly run into Paula waiting for the bus back to the Avenida downtown and she ended up askign me if I wanted to go out with her tonight! We went to a local and delicious, cheap restaurant really close to the apt. It has a vegetarian option every day and today I had a traditional dish of the Algarve that was like a stew with a corn base and shrimp, it was so good! Then we went to the most beautiful shopping plaza ive ever seen. Its an open air, large building with an influence from Arabs including arabian tiles because arabs lived in the algarve of portugal a long time ago and have a huge influence on the architecture of the building. It has european and local portuguese clothing shops which are much better than American! Everything is so much more well made. Paula and I really bonded tonight talking about everything under the sun and especiallyr relationships and how things are so different in Europe and the U.s.
