The morning started out by packing up our stuff and saying goodbye to our last B&B. I was sad to see that era of being treated as royality end but we declined the full Irish breakfast because the bacon was getting to all of us. Eggs and toast with fruit and of course tea worked out great! Once again the lady that owns the B&B drove us to the bus station. She is such a nice lady, they all were actually and we plan on writing great reviews for the websites! We had to catch a bus into Cork first and did not have too much time to spare between the next bus. After finally rounding everyone up, we were on our way! We had to pay 10 euros to get into the castle grounds, but I was more than okay with that. It's not just the castle but also different kinds of gardens as well. The first thing we did was head to the castle. Once again we had our giant backpacks. This caused a struggle with walking up the narrow steps, but we did it. It wasn't all that crowded, but it was another wonderful day outside.
Kissing the Blarney Stone was a bit of a task, but we did it and still looked good. Nothing new there. =] In order to do it right, one has to lay on their back and arch it back a bit. With the help of a worker and the poles to grab onto, it is no longer a life risking event, but still kinda scary! Hopefully the stone will do it's job and I'll have the gift of gab! After walking back down just as carefully as we walked up, we relaxed a bit and took a few pictures and videos. We discovered the Poison Garden. Why? Just why is it there? Someone answer that one for me. Anyways, we went on this path that took us to the Wishing Steps. It's said that if you walk up and down the steps with your eyes closed while only thinking of your wish, it will come true within a year. Well, I think I made a fantastic wish, better than that stupid 11/11 11:11 one! In order to not have trouble picking a place to eat, we decided on the first place we saw. Not a bad choice either! The owner was born in Boston! We never would have guessed with his thick Irish accent. The food was wonderful and we just chilled for a bit before getting up and looking around at different store. We missed the bus we had planned to take, but they come like every 15 minutes so we weren't too concerned. We set a time to leave and continued to check out the local shops. I never know what to buy everyone so sorry if these gifts suck, I still love you.
Because Kels has to pee every 20 minutes, we almost missed our bus but of course we did not! We got back to Cork where we would spend our final night. =/ Since Cork is more of a city rather than country, we tested out our first hostel. The lady that checked us in was really awesome and I wasn't sketched out at all. Well, everyone else was. We had a 6 person bedroom for the 5 of us and they were a bit creeped out that they had placed another guy with us. Since we don't know who he was we named him Randy.. as in a random guy. We kinda looked at his stuff to figure him out, but we could not. No one wanted to leave their stuff there while we walked around so we took it with us. Most of the places were closed by then but Erika needed WiFi to work out some issues at home so we hung out at the local McDonalds for a bit. While we were sitting there Louise discovered a girl had left her iPhone there. Being the good person that she is she took it to the counter and explained what had happened. Sure enough, about 20 - 30 minutes later the girl came rushing in with her friend about to be in tears. She asked if we had seen it and Louise said she took it to the counter. The girl was so relieved. Upon leaving they could not thank us enough and told us an Irish person would have never done that. Felt pretty proud to be an American then. We got back to the hostel, Randy had been there and then left again. I still don't get why everyone was sketching out, the chance of him killing all of us was pretty slim. Erika was so scared she slept in the same bed as me. Good thing for both of us that I don't move around. I guess Randy came back around 2 but I don't wake up for anything.
We got up around 8 am and packed up the rest of our things and said goodbye to that hostel. We caught a taxi to the airport. We had to wait a little bit for Ryanair to get someone to the desk. Cork airport is pretty small so there was no rush or anything. Once again Erika and Fish's tickets wouldn't scan so they had to go back down and get them printed. Louise didn't say the T word this time, so she almost got though fine, except her bag for her liqiuds was too big so they made her transfer them. Not cool, but that was painless. Once we got through, we realized the place was so tiny that there was basically no where to eat. We grabbed some expensive sandwiches and just relaxed before our flight. For the most part the flight was empty and that was okay by me. I got a lot of reading done and my ear didn't have that bad of trouble!
We landed and then waited a bit for the Easy Bus. After that hour or so long drive, we caught the tube back to the coach station. After a little bit of figuring everything out, we met up with Emmitt and the other Erika! I was so excited to see them! Pathetic I know, but I can't help it. We were going to hang out with Emmitt's parents but that required us to buy another underground ticket and I was running low on cash, so we said our goodbyes to both Erikas and Emmitt. I was officially starving so we found a Subway and paid too much for a sandwich. Mind you, it was proably about 5 and our next bus wasn't until 8. I was feeling like a pile of crap and I know Kels and Louise weren't feeling too well either. After checking out the bus times that were sooner, we decided to catch an earlier bus back.
Our bus got back earlier than planned and we were back in good old Cheltenham before 9! I have to say I really missed this place which I find a bit sad. I wonder how bad it will be once I go back home for good. Oh well, no use worrying about it now. Ireland was a fantastic time and words cannot express how grateful I am that I have these opportunities!
