After a morning consisting of another full Irish breakfast, we left the B&B and walked to the bus stop. From there we had to stop at a bus station to catch a connecting bus to Dingle. I must say, we did a great job of learning the bus system. The buses are always kind of painless and easy, but the trip to Dingle took us through some mountains. I am pretty impressed with these bus drivers. The roads are narrow but they do a great job of not killing us. I think it's safe to say we all fell in love with Dingle the minute we got off the bus. I have a pretty sweet video posted here so check it out. The water was so clear and beautiful! We walked around a bit, got some ice cream and then decided to try to find the horseback riding place, which started at 2:30. Erika had googled it and it said that it was located right off Goat Road, which was a pretty main road. Well thanks, Google, for lying. It was a hike to say the least. We had a pretty steep incline to walk up and then it evened out long enough just to see another incline. It also started to get really hot, so I was sweating, but that's nothing new. We finally reached the place and quickly got excited. I changed into a tshirt and we all put on sweet boots and riding helmets. I looked pretty legit, as usual. Louise, the horse expert in the group, was sure to point out that we would be riding English and not western, which means holding on is all inner thigh work, awesome.
They start pairing us up with horses. No surpirse here, I got the shortest horse, no big deal. Her name was DuBois. She was a pretty little lady! It took me awhile to get in control, but I think I ended up doing a good job. Erika was given King, Fish had Blasket, and Louise, Meg. Kels got Bob. Bob fell asleep before we even took off. It seemed to fit Kels pretty well. To everyones surprise, Bob took the lead. We started out on flat ground. Soon enough, we started to trott. This is where Bob lost the lead to Blasket. Soon enough, Meg was tired of being behind Bob as well. After another session of trotting, DeBois had had enough as well and Bob was in fourth, only in front of King. We started goingg up this tiny trail up the mountain. My asthma was being a jerk, but I survived. As soon as we got to the top of the mountain I was in awe. It was so incredibly magnificent. We could see forever. The grass is so green and pretty. Dingle Bay was glimmering in the light. The weather wasn't too hot but wasn't too cold. It was a perfect day.
We started back down the mountain and at this point, Bob was hungry, so Kels struggled a bit to get him under control. We trotted a bit more and soon enough, we were back at their house. It lasted a little more than an hour and it was totally unforgetable! That was only the third time I had been horseback riding and I still love it. My butt and thighs hurt a bit afterwards, but I'm a champ so no worries. We had some time to kill, so we grabbed some food and just hung out. It's always nice to take off our backpacks and just sit down. Although they only weigh about 10 pounds, if even that, they sure do get in the way a lot. A little bit later we caught another bus to take us to Killarney for the next two nights. Our B&B wasn't too far from the bus stop so we walked that way and were there in no time. As soon as we got there the lady was sure to welcome us and show us some maps. We sat around for a bit and then decided to explore and find a place to eat. Sadly, we all have an indecisive nature and it took us a while to pick a place. Louise and I split this variety plate. We had chicken wings, ribs, fries, sausage, and mushrooms. I gave her all the mushrooms. It was good and filled us up for the night. Of course we came back and eventually started eating chocolate, but that's a given! Tomorrow will be an adventure! See you later!
