We went on a boat tour around some islands, but I must say that it was nothing spectacular and to be honest stuck on a tiny boat like sardines in can is not really my type of fun, but as the day went on it got a bit better, especially when we all had to jump in the sea with a float and were fed a very lethal potent wine from a Vietnamese guy who looked just like Mr Miyagi, he was so funny, and decided to pick on Darren and I and make us do shots with this wine. The islands we visited were pretty but we could just sit on the boat and look at them as they wanted us to pay to go onto them, and on principle we did not because the beaches were covered in litter, ummm hello where is that money you so eagerly take from us go to! For lunch they parked next to a fish farm which smelt 'lovely', its so enjoyable eating with a nice fishy smell. Darren and I went walking around to see the different fish and this local guy invited us to go and sit with him and his mates for a beer, we turned it down tho as I was in my bikini and I guess it was just a harmless thing but I am still very weary after India. But otherwise it was not too bad I pretty much spent the day laughing at the locals trying to swim as they all put on lifejackets and still tried to go under water, uhhh I don't think they actually get the whole concept of a lifejacket.
Yesterday we went diving and it was just amazing, at first we were a bit apprehensive as the visibility could have been better but no its was amazing and I love it more and more, the coral was the most beautiful colours and the highlight was seeing my first manta ray. There is not much else to see this side of Vietnam other than pagodas and temples so we have just been chilling and sitting on the beach, the water is so refreshing compared to Thailand, and its so blue. Today we decided to rent a bike and do some exploring, so we jump on and go around the corner and witness a bike accident, so we turn and swiftly give the bike back, especially as Darren was looking on the wrong side of the road to turn, but its too scary as they drive like bloody maniacs! So our exploring came to an abrupt end and we went and worked on our tans instead. Its so sad cause when your in the sea every 2 minutes a plastic bag comes floating past us, so we were forever throwing them onto the beach, not that it helped much, but its so sad the beach is so stunning but its full of litter, these three girls left their bags on the beach while they went for a swim naturally right, anyway next thing a Vietnamese guy runs down and tries to steal the bag, luckily this other tourist stopped him, how rude! The thief not the guy stopping him.
I am addicted to these small sugar donuts this guy sells, and everyday I go and pig out on them, honestly I think I may have a problem as I dream about them all day and any excuse I go and get some.
we are on a night bus for 13 hours tomorrow, next stop Hoi An, not looking forward to the bus trip but Hoi an sounds so amazing and wont be so city like. We are probably going to go on a cooking course as we go and make rice paper and learn how to cook Vietnamese style.
Darren says….
HI EVERYONE!!
