"Good Morning Vietnam"!! Yay so we finally arrived it was great getting off the bus and we were both so excited about Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh City was a really nice surprise, we just did not know what to expect and both had an idea of poverty, and loads of beggars and just a dirty place, but we were mistaken, the city was buzzing and had some lovely shops and restaurants. it's a very built up city and fairly clean and not as many beggars as Cambodia or Thailand, but its crazy mad with scooters there are thousands of them, we were s***ting ourselves trying to cross the road, its confusing enough when they drive on the wrong side of the road so the look 'left, right, left' does not work its more like 'right, left, right, left, right, left, oh f*** it lets just run', you then have to dodge millions of scooters! But we really enjoyed it, we found a really sweet little family run guesthouse down an alley way that had wifi and we treated ourselves with aircon, we paid $10 a night which is about £6 which in reality is flipping cheap but when your on budget its really expensive haha I have become the budget police, I convert everything and make sure we stick to it, Darren is not loving it so much, especially when it comes to beer time. Anyway so we are travelling from Ho Chi Min City all the way up to Hanoi on a bus so we only stayed in the city for two nights but that nearly changed as clumsy me (which is kinda becoming a trend now) fell down some concrete stairs and seriously hurt myself. I fell so hard on my bum that I have a massive lump and a very big black smiley shape bruise on my bum cheek. Was so painful so I cant actually sit properly and have to sit on my side which is also becoming very sore…hmmm I am just so silly as I am forever bumping my head or stubbing my toe or falling over. There was not much to do there other than see Pagodas and Museums so we just went to the war museum.
The bus we are travelling on is a soft sleeper bus so for the 6-13 hour journeys we can sleep, they are actually not too bad and are comfy enough for someone who does not have a big fat lump on her bum tho, but what am I saying I must of forgotten how crazy these bloody bus drivers are they just drive all over the road and its scary as hell but I don't look, I think that if I don't see it coming it may be better. Our next stop was Muine Beach, and we were so excited for some sun and sea, but when we got there we soon realised one because there were hundreds of kite surfers and two because the wind and waves were so strong that it pulled me under the water and nearly drowned me that it was not that kind of beach, and it was so hot as Vietam is in its summer which is odd as Cambodia and Thailand are in their low/rainy seasons. But we are glad we stopped there as there were some amazing white and red sand dunes that we went to see. It was amazing and it looked like we were in the middle of the desert. We also went to the fishing village and as you can imagine it stunk so bad but there were hundreds of boats that were docked and these cute little round boats that they use were all over the beach. We also went to the fairy stream which is just a little stream that flows between the sand dunes, but it was very pretty.
Next stop is Nha Trang, and we are planning to stay here for about a week. The bus journey was not too bad, we are actually getting used to these long journeys now. The beach here is just amazing, Turquoise water and some lovely palm trees, behind the beach is the city and you would not think you were in Vietnam, Darren says it just looks like Cape Town. During the day the temp is close to 40 degrees and the beach sand just burns our feet, its so funny watching people sprint from their towels or sun chairs to the water, and I am sure I see smoke when they get to it hahaha. Its really annoying when the pesky people selling their stupid things come up to us constantly and we have come to realise that if you say 'no' to a Vietnamese they get really angry and start tutting at us, I actually find them very rude and arrogant and a few of them have been a bit aggressive towards us when we politely say no to them…..hmmm scary, also when we were travelling on the bus, the country side is just so green and really stunning but litter is just everywhere they don't seem to care about it, its really sad to see, even along the beach is full of litter. Last night we went for a walk along the beach and during the day you don't see any locals on the beach as the woman don't go in the sun as in this culture they keep their skin as white as they can because they believe its more attractive so if you do see them out in the sun they wear socks and gloves and face masks and long pants and tops and I am sure they smell delightful!!!! anyway so we were walking along the beach and loads of locals just picnicking so I guess that's where all the litter comes from. Tomorrow we are going on boat tour around the island so looking forward to that…..
