The hostel here in Japser is so remote, but after spending a night it's a quite a nice relaxing hostel. The dorms are mixed sexed and holds 48 beds (24 bunk beds) which actually wasn't as bad as what I'd thought. Annoyingly though there aren't many plug sockets in the dorm rooms!
Had to leave the hostel with Lina and Olivia at 07:00 to catch the sun rise this morning and then head to Milagne Lake. We set off at 07:30 and was still pitch black when we left which was pretty scarry being in the middle of no-where! We travelled about 30minutes in the wrong direction, but we got to see a male elk and mountain goats, so it wasn't too bad! As we drove up the mountain to Milagne Lake we encountered thick snow which was beautiful to see a change of scenery. We spotted a moose drinking in Milagne Lake, but we weren't quick enough to get our cameras out which was a shame!
We stopped at Medicine Lake first, where we watched the sun rise behind the mountains! Then we headed up further to Milagne Lake. Milagne Lake is the second largest glacier lake in the world - but we were actually fairly disappointed with the scenery, as we all expected to see more stunning views. We walked along the lake edge, but it was so cold that we didn't stay for long!
From Milagne Lake we stopped off at Milagne Canyon. This was so much more of a deeper canyon than I expected it to be. The wooden trails and bridges over the canyon added to the views, which were amazing! I'm having problems accessing a computer and to uploading photo's; but they will be following shortly.
