Well I've been to the beautifully picturesque Port Douglas, stunning Table Lands and then all the way in to the amazing Mt ISA, the latter is not to everyones liking but I found it really great.
First with the trip up to Cairns, then off to Port Douglas, and then the beautiful drive to the Table Lands. The start for me did not begin well. I have a really simple grey dress that is fantastic to travel in as it is comfortable, wears well, and is light weight. However whilst wearing this particular dress I have managed to spill coffee in myself FIVE TIMES! I do not believe that I have poured coffee on myself at any other time in my life, other than when I am wearing this dress. So knowing this I was extremely careful when I stopped in Cardwell to grab a cup of coffee from Vivia, by the way great coffee. I managed to not only have a few sips of coffee on my way to the car, and beside the car, before I did a quick clothing check..... I was happy to discover no coffee spills, however the jubilation was short lived as I looked to my side I noticed a large stain down the side if my dress, NOT COFFEE. Turns out I had leant in something that was filthy and had managed to get it all over my dress! Ugh. Not to worry coffee in hand I decided to suck it up and continue on my journey. Having left to allow myself enough time to encounter a number of road works along the way, I had nit anticipated needing an extra 80mins for my journey, I also did not pick on getting 2 red lights at the only lights in Gordonvale! After having passed through the last red light I received a call from my AM Renea, who I was meeting in Cairns. She was ringing to let me know that our normally wonderfully organized office girl had unfortunately forgotten to book me in anywhere :0 by this stage I was ready to turn around and go home, however that is not my style and soldier in I did. In amongst all of the chaos I managed to get booked into the Sebel and had arranged to leave my car there for the day. Upon arriving at the check in counter I discovered my next hindrance for the day, English was not to be my first language for the day. No matter how hard I tried I could not string a sentence together, and trying to be understood by Northern Queenslanders is difficult at the best of times.
Despite the crazy start to the week it did get better. Renea and I had a great trip up to Port Douglas, definitely keen to make here or Palm Cove a holiday destination. We also had a beautiful drive up to the Table Lands. The scenery on the way up is similar to NZ but once you get there it's different. You have some amazing forestry and park areas that were awesome.
Despite the disappointing loss in the State of O the week definitely got better.
