Ok, so we're really sorry that we haven't caught up with the blogs for most of Vietnam, all of Laos and the end of Thailand but we just coudn't wait to blog for Singapore so you'll have to wait!
We have learnt a lot in Singapore;
WE LOVE RICHARD COONZ!!! (And we want to be filthy rich!)
We arrived at our hotel... the Singapore Intercontinental of course... and we turned up, filthy and smelly (I haven't had proper shampoo since Laos!) with our backpacks on. The entrance courtyard is bigger than msot of the cities we have visited! We didn't quite know what to do with ourselves, neither did the door staff as I'm sure they thought we must be mad to think we could walk in their fancy hotel!
The door was opened for us and people were calling us Sir and Madame! As soon as I walked up to reception and put my bag down, classical music started playing and I nearly started crying!! I felt like pretty woman (apart from the hooker part!) It was like we were somewhere magical that we didn't quite belong and the relief from all the stresses of the last 7 weeks vanished.
We checked in and got taken to our room, one up from deluxe of course! I was trying my best not to screem, or faint, when he opened the door and showed us our room! In fact I deserved an oscar for how I acted as if staying in these sorts of places was an eevryday affair! As soon as he left I jumped on the bed and screamed! We have a hall way, we have two big bay windows looking out onto the shoppers below in a fancy mall, our bathroom is bigger than most places we have stayed, it has a bath(!), I didn't have to check the sheets for bugs, I didn't have to watch where I put things down for fear of them getting even dirtier.... it is amazing!
And it's gets better... the first thing I did was check out the bathroom facilities of course. Elemis toiletries! Clean fluffy towels bigger than most bed sheets we have been used to, toilet paper than doesn't make you wince(!), the shower was like a sauna and a massage all in one and we had hot water on tap!!! Lee thought I had drowned and by the time I resurfaced all that I had thought was tan had washed away and I was as wrinkly as a prune... it was great!
A quick dip in the pool (on the fourth floor ad surrounded by the iconic Singapore skyline), we then went to check out the jacuzzi.
We had the best night sleep ever and did well to get up actually!
All we can say is that Singapore is a clean, friendly, super efficient city with lots to do and even more to do if you're filthy rich. We will update up on the specifics of what we got up to another time. For now, we have to run and catch our flight to Cairns!
