Today we left early to drive up to Cooktown without our caravan from The Daintree via the Bloomfield Track. Before we left we celebrated Lochie's 3rd birthday and gave him some presents from us and his Opa and Oma. We expected the Bloomfield Track to be a 4wd track but it was just a corrugated dirt road with the occasional bitumen sections and a handful of creek crossings, never needed 4wd but there were some very steep sections and I would imagine it would be terrible if it was wet!
We stopped in at the iconic Lions Den Hotel located about half an hour south of Cooktown for a break. The Lions Den is a great pub with a lot of memorabilia hanging from its rafters and on the walls. It is a very interesting place and the staff were very friendly!
After a refreshing break we headed into Cooktown. As we arrived in Cooktown Lochie vomited, he'd been sneakily eating lollies all the way up and got an upset tummy! Hopefully lesson learnt!!
Cooktown is steeped in history, a very interesting place. After a few hours of looking around we drove back down the Bloomfield Track to our caravan in the beautiful tropical Daintree. The serenity!
