We just crossed in to GMT time!
Eight Days at Sea!! Well I wasn't sure I would love eight days at sea, but it turned out great! Each day was over before we knew it. Waking at 7:00 am I would be on the bike for 30 minutes and then a mile walk on deck with the Cruise Director. Heading back to the room I would bring sleeping Joy a coffee made by Keith and then shower and head to my sit down breakfast with my new friends of the day. It happened this way every day of the crossing, Joy did make breakfast one day but called it quits after that. Me I wanted to make sure I was fed by ten so I could have my obligatory poolside cheeseburger by the pool as I do on every cruise we take, as they stop serving at 2:00pm.
Here the days would vary with our 1:00pm team trivia and nap time rolling in around 2:30pm. Those were sometimes interrupted by a dip in the hot tub or as I found out on day 5 a slide down the long slide that's not open when the wind is too high. We needed to finish either nap or pool slide by 5:00p as they rolled out sushi and sake. Quickly we shower and dress for dinner which could be dinner at the "proper" restaurant to buffet poolside to my favorite "24 hour Pizza" restaurant, fresh made pizza and salad.
Night life has included dancing for me with many different women including a Panamanian bombshell that was unbelievable, Sonja has more energy than just about anybody I have ever met, I believe she could wear out my buddy JJody!! Best of all she got My Joy to drink her first Tequila shot of her life! Not only that Joy was inspired by Sonja to join us on the dance floor and shook her groove thing. Powering on we have stayed out till at least 12:00 midnight every night and have lost an hour every other night so we are to say the least burning it at both ends. Now that I think of it I may give "Trixie" my new truck a middle name, say "Sonja". If I can nail her down I'll snap a shot when she's not moving!
In-between we did a behind the scenes tour that took us to the belly of the ship and back, stopping and looking at the engine control room to the kitchen to a 20 minute chat with the Captain. It wasn't until day seven that I discovered Thirsty Frog beer on tap in the Atrium bar and have been a big fan ever since, Thirsty Fog is Carnivals own brew and will be available ship wide after dry dock.
Speaking of dry dock, for those of you who don't know Carnival Destiny is on her final run to Italy to be completely over hauled. During our cruise there have been many work areas and things disappearing overnight. Yesterday in Malaga Spain there were dozens of deck chairs in the dumpster next to the ship as were doors and other piping from probably the engine room. Two decks will be added to Destiny and several restaurants. Many of the crew are new onboard as Carnival has chosen them from other ships to be dropped off in Italy and sent home from there. They are in great moods and fun to talk to as we close in on their vacations too.
I will end here with our stop in Malaga Spain, a rather small city, very walkable. We were so tired after our visit that we were in bed by 10:30pm our earliest yet. Back at sea we rose to a very foggy Mediterranean Ocean and our ship blowing her fog horn every two minutes. As the fog has now burned off I will head back out to the deck and continue with my vacation! Ole'! Keith and Joy February 15 2013 Carnival Destiny Mediterranean Ocean.

Northcoasters Hola Sounds like a fun start to Spain. Good to hear from you guys the other day. We are in room 212 listening to waves break on the beach. We were greeted by 85 degree at the airport and 78 along the coast. Tell Joy to watch those "shots" Enjoy The Northcoasters
