Madagascar part three.Well after the four hour hike we were ready for some relaxing so we made our way back to the hotel cleaned up and walked into town.Ranomafana is very small maybe three hundred residents. The main square in town has many little shops for anything you may need to survive.Taxi buses stop here and let the folks get out for a stretch.Taxi buses are the main way of getting from point a to b.They are six passenger buses with up to 15 passengers and sometimes the same size of the van worth of stuff tied to the roof. When they don't stop they come honking through town not slowing for anybody.Somehow this works in Madagascar flying throught town inches from small children and large animales.
The Police have roadblocks set up about every ten miles checking cars and trucks for the registration. Seems to me they could buy a radar gun for the town and make more money that way as nobody follows speed limits.I saw trucks along our journey with the metal cords in the tires showing.Well I will never complain against USA truck inspections again because we would probaly have the same problem if they left the trucks to thier own devises.
ALong our route back to Tana and the airport we waved at many of the friendly faces of MAdagascar everybody with a smile.Stopping along the road you would not be long before kids would notice you and come running. They would not be asking for anything just interested in the "Vassa".At one point we stopped and bought a big supply of cookies and would hand them out to the gentle reaches of these children and they ALWAYS said thank you in thier native tounge.
Back at the airport we bid farewell to our guide Dani and boarded the plane for our three day trip home.In Kenya we were treated to Giraffe grazing below our plane. Our plane to London was really full and really latedue to technical problems. The plane took off very slow and heavy and was a bit heart pounding until we leveled out.Once in the air we were told the technical problems was that the pa system was not working so we were much happier about our late plane.LAnding London only 50 minutes late we haded over to our hotel and a express tour of London.
Taking the Underground into London we found our way to Harrods department store,Big Ben,Tower Bridge and Castle. Our feet weary and the day growing dark we have come to the end of our vacation. Now in London Heathrow airport I am back in long pants tan fading fast. The weather back home sounds cold and snowy but I do believe that I am ready for no other reason then to rid myself of this blue bag that I have lugged around the world.Twenty two flights later I am a bit airport weary also.Looking forward to seeing everybody and returning Ellie and KAthy back to thier owners and quizing Kathy on "what is the Hellfire Pass?" I still have serveral vides to upload and I will close this out once we are back in the States so til then Cheery O
