After leaving Airlie Beach we stopped off at Townsville (not a very hip and happening place)for one night and continued our journey south stopping off at Agnes Water/Town of 1770. Hi everyone, we have travelled down from Port Douglas (the rainforest) to Airlie Beach where we are staying a couple of days before moving on again. We have to be at Brisbane by Friday 2 March wo we have a few stops pencilled in along the way. Airlie Beach is lovely, fabulous views out to sea. It is the gateway to the Whitsunday Islands. Hi everbody, No we haven't seen a koala bear but we couldn't find anything else that was suitable. We have spent the weekend in Port Douglas, where the rain forest is. We were going to go to Cape Tribulation but the road was closed due to flooding so we couldn't get further than Daintree. The rain forest lived up to its name, it was wet, wet, wet but really interesting. Had to buy a nice plastic poncho and we couldn't take photographs as the rain ...

Had a great day at the Reef. Keith went snorkelling as you will see from the photographs. In the afternoon we took a helicopter ride over the Reef. The views were tremendous and you really appreciate how vast an area it covers. Collecting hire car tomorrow and driving to Port Douglas to visit the Rain Forrest.

Hi everyone, We have now arrived in Cairns, Australia. We are another 2 hours ahead so that is ten in total now. I think someone had turned the heating up, it's extremely warm, like stepping in a sauna. We have another lovely hotel, struck lucky and got a free upgrade to a one bedroom apartment but more importantly it has laundry facilities in the room.
