After leaving Airlie Beach we stopped off at Townsville (not a very hip and happening place)for one night and continued our journey south stopping off at Agnes Water/Town of 1770. The significance of the name is that Captain Cook first set foot in Queensland on 24 May, 1770. Original or what? Agnes Waters was very pretty, imagine Beadnell Bay bathed in sunlight and very hot. A very popular surfing spot as well. It's a shame we couldn't stay longer as it would be a good place to chill out but alas we have to move on again. Anne kept up her kangaroo watch on the journey down as we kept seeing signs for kangaroos and koala bears but we never saw any. We're sure it's just to keep the toursits interested. We are now at Hervey Bay, staying at an Outriggers Hotel which overlooks the marina. Fabulous views.
