Touchdown! We (as backpackers) strive to discover the new. We seek the untouched and we search for the unspoilt. That said, it is nice to mix new with the familiar, the comfortable and the known. It may have been years, but I was back in Samui. Back where the backpacking dream came alight and in many ways, became a reality.
Our flight from Bangkok departed an hour late which meant the darkness had arrived on Samui before ourselves. We stayed half way between the airport and boat pier meaning we'd have a quick getaway to Koh Tao the following day. Unfortunately, plans doesn't always turn out.
Vikki had to be taken to hospital as she hadn't been well for a week or so and was showing no sign of improvement. Thankfully, 7 hours, a drip and a handful of tablets later, we were back in our room, a room we'd stay in for a couple more nights before getting our itinerary back on track.
We relaxed. We swam. We sunbathed. All whilst England has been covered in over a foot of snow. Life's a b****!
Samui, it was nice to see you, I'll be back in a week.
