The journey to Krabi wasn't all that bad, a minibus, a ferry and two coaches. Back home I'd of thought that was long, boring and tedious. Now, half a day travelling is nothing. It's the 24 hour journeys and upwards that are the killers.
So, we arrived in Krabi with the plan to dive, relax on the beach and generally continue the 'holiday mood' that had arose since reentering Thailand.
However... Sigh... Moving onto Krabi wasn't a great choice. Slightly more expensive than the island of Koh Samui, it had to deliver on the diving front and the weather. Plankton decreased water visibility to an arms length and on the surface clouds began to form. Great for running, not so good for relaxing on the golden beaches.
We had two choices; Go to the more expensive island of Phi Phi and dive in better waters or go back to Koh Samui and Koh Tao. Obviously, a new island is more appealing, especially one with the beauty of Phi Phi (where the movie The Beach was filmed), but with two weeks until our visas run out (and we want to make the most of it), staying and diving in Phi Phi would equate to hundreds more pounds.
Time to head back to (as I state in my previous blog entries), one of my favourite places. In hindsight, staying in Samui once (this would be our third visit in as many weeks) would have made more sense, but hindsight is a wonderful thing. And this way, we get to go to black moon party along the way. Every cloud and that.
