Car fixed, we spent Saturday by driving to the Slave Caves in Shimoni. The car 'only' broke down twice en route and we looked briefly around where slaves were kept underground for up to 3 weeks before been shipped off to Zanzibar in the slave trade era.
Despite the car already breaking down numerous times, Baba decided he wanted to show us the Tanzania border - not Tanzania, the actual gate which people crossed into Tanzania.
After a look of disbelief between me and Vik that we'd added an extra few hours onto our trip to see a queue of people, we were happy to hear that there was a chance of seeing elephants on our way back to town.
The journey was long, hot, boring and uncomfortable - averaging a speed of 20kph on a rocky road we thought the moment would never come, but it did...
About 5 minutes from Kwale town, we saw a family of elephants (around 7) including a baby elephant that screeched at us! Unfortunately it was now night so the pictures didn't turn out well, but they were literally about 5 meters away from us - it was amazing!
We got home at 9, tired so ate and headed to bed shortly after. We're half way through our time here already!!
