On our first day in Prague we were lucky enough to be bussed out of the capital to Mlada Boleslav where there was the Skoda Factory. The short journey gave us an opportunity to get a glimpse of the city before we pootled through some countryside to arrive at the factory.
The first part of the tour was a trip around the museum which held a great range of vehicles starting with the very first bike and going through to the most modern Skoda car. The last car we saw was the favourite of most people as it had a very classy interior - unfortunately it never went on sale. Our witty tour guide then showed us the various stages of the reconstruction of a vintage Skoda before a short video about the building and assembly of the car.
We then got the chance to visit a couple of parts of the factory where different parts of the car are made. Upon entering the complex (bedecked in trendy flouro green tabards) we were amazed at the size of the place. We were then told that it was bigger than Monaco! This part of the tour gave us an insight into the working life of a factory worker and the guide explained the details of employment and other interesting figures.
This was a very enjoyable and informative tour which was a great start to our fantastic Prague experience.
