We got up at 7.45, had breakfast - consisting of Frankfurter sausages and bread. Then we left Prague by bus for the Skoda factory in Mlada Boleslav. After a tour around the museum given by a very entertaining Czech woman we put on yellow vests and entered the factory. We saw machines pressing car body parts and then the workers putting the cars together which was very interesting.
After a dodgy KFC lunch we travelled back to the centre of Prague and drove up to a summer house with views of the Cathedral and Castle, above the city. The buildings were beautiful and we talked about the structure of the arches and the renaissance style of the architecture. We walked up to the Castle, stopping to take photos with the guards first and after walking under a short tunnel we stumbled upon the grand and magnificent gothic style Cathedral of St Vitus.
The inside was just as beautiful because of the stunning glass windows which we admired for some time. At 4pm we gathered to watch the changing of the guard, then took the 'steep' steps down to the Lesser Town, Mala Strana, where we entered the Bell Tower of St Nicholas' Church which we climbed to the top of to see the views of the city.
Next we took a slow walk to the restaurant Barbar and ate noodle soup, goulash beef and dumplings and crêpes and finally birthday cake, as it was Maddie's birthday, whilst playing with her new Skoda balloons (thanks to Mr Kitzinger)! Then we then headed out to Old Town Square where we absorbed some Czech culture, before we headed to a Jazz bar where we spent the remainder of the evening! We finally headed back to the hotel after a very busy but exciting day. Exhausted!
