So we left Ciaran behing who was off to Bangkok and we got our bus to Battambang.
Took around 4 hours but eventually arrived about Midday.
Straight away i could see that the city is much less popular, the streets are filled with rubbish and not as built up as other places.
But still has a great vibe here, people are still friendly.
We went on a bamboo train, which is basically one track that runs to another villiage and the wheels sit on a plank of bamboo. ....health and safety is not an issue here....:D
It was a 14 kilometer ride and the train hit around 25km/h i think, seem quite fast, just kept hoping i didnt come off.
At one point we had to come off the tracks and left other trains pass by, so we were hauled off, and the driver took off the bamboo wood and the wheels and we just waited by the side.
Was a great experience, very different to anything i have done.
The next day we spent at the 'smoking pot' where i learnt to cook the traditional Amok, Lok lak and a soup. Was a good afternoon, visiting the market where everything is laid open to flys and all sorts. So we picked up our ingrediants and off we went to cook.
We only spent two days here before heading back to Siem Reap another 4 hours bus trip. But the bamboo rail is worth doing.
Also found out that they will be closing this bamboo rail in the next year as there is not enough money coming from it....
