Early hours of the morning I took a flight from Salvador to Rio, took two and half hours.
Got in at around 7am and took a bus to the hostel, checked in and went straight to bed.
Daria landed a few hours after me.
The hostel was quite special, basically set above a gym, but thinks the whole area use to be a gym but was divided into different rooms, but was all open so go tot hear people coming and going.
However due to a national holiday all the good hostels were booked up and this was the only one left in Botofogo, so had to take it.
Can't believe I am in Rio and again the first few days it was just raining and then it cleared up.
The first few days just spent walking around a looking at all the shops and markets.
Once it cleared up off we went to visit the Christ!!
Wow that was impressive, so buyt though, took a train up which took around 20 minutes and then walked up some steps.
Then I saw him, Christ Redeemer (Christo Redentor), it is quite spectacular especially when you look over and see the whole of Rio now that is amazing! The views were just mind blowing!
Spent the rest of days sorting out tickets to move on and shopping.
Also visited Ipanema and Copacabana which were amazing just such a shame the weather was crap for the first few days we were there and as our luck the weather got better as we left!
This seems the way so far travelling South America first few days it rains and then the days we are about to leave the sun pops it head out!! Typical!
From our hostel you can see Christ redeemer on a clear day or night, at night it is quite cool as he is lit up and looks quite amazing! If the cloud passes under him it looks like he is standing on a cloud.
