Today the Europe tour begins!! Woke up at 5am, after only a few hours sleep in the end. I ended up having to hurriedly pack all over again after deciding not to take my backpack but a suitcase instead! I did panic a bit when Kim wasn't at my house to pick me up by 6am and I hadn't heard from her, I thought she might still be asleep, well scared!!
Kim picked me up and we went back to her flat and ordered a taxi from there. We got to Calcot for the coach at about 6.50am, just in time for the 7am coach.
We got to Gatwick Airport at about 8:45 and managed to check-in really quick, no queuing at all which I was happy about!!
Our flight was due to take-off at 11:20am, and my 10:40 we still didn't know what departure gate it was so we were getting a bit worried that we were going to be delayed. When we finally knew the gate number, we went through Customs and I couldn't believe it when Kim said there was a board saying that our gate was CLOSING!!
We must have looked hilarious running through the airport, throwing our tickets in the air, everyone was looking at us like we were mad!!
When we got to our boarding gate, out of breath and getting stressed out thinking we had missed the plane, then we found out they hadn't even BEGUN to let people board the plane!!!
We eventually got on the plane about 15 minutes late, and because we were some of the last people to board the plane and Easyjet don't do allocated seats, me and Kim ended up having to sit down opposite ends of the plane which was annoying because I think we both could have done with sitting next to eachother seeing as we both dread flying!!
I ended up sitting between this middle-aged couple, friendly but kind of weird!! When I realised that they were a couple, I told them I didnt mind sitting on the aisle or something if they wanted to sit next to eachother, but they said they didn't mind me sitting in the middle!
The man was hilarious, he was really loud and the people in front kept looking around because everything he said seemed quite aggressive!!
The woman was really friendly, they both had never flown before so seemed more anxious about the flight than even me!!
We were just about to take off when the pilot said there was yet another delay, that might be for about another half an hour. Typical!
When we did eventually take off, I was nervous as I usually am, and I thought the take off was quite bumpy!
The flight did go quite quick, but then I suppose it was only a couple of hours. When we flew over the Alps it looked amazing and almost looked like it was just a few feet beneath you because you could see it all so clearly.
When we landed, getting our luggage proved to be a bit of a nightmare. Kim couldn't find her suitcase for a while, but I thought I had found mine because it looked identical to mine, so I picked it up. Then Kim found her suitcase on another conveyor and I saw another suitcase going around that looked like mine, so quickly looked in the suitcase I had and realised I had the wrong one!! Eeek!!
Milan was warm and sunny when we got there, not a cloud in the sky! We got a taxi to our hostel, but when we got there we were told that there was a problem with the hostel and were transferred to another one. The woman made us a cup of tea while we were waiting to be picked up; her little baby boy was adorable!!
We got driven to our hotel by some bloke that was high on weed and drove like a manic - our first encounter of what would be many of people driving insanely over here!!
The hostel was more of a hotel really, and we had a twin room but were told someone else might also be moved into our room later on.
The room was nice though and we had a balcony which was cool as we could see out on the street below.
We went and had a look around and went to a cafe and sat outside and had a few drinks. The man that worked in there, called something like Ulio, was really nice and definitely not bad to look at haha!! He came outside and chatted with us and bought me a drink. It was funny trying to make conversation with him when he didn't understand us and we could hardly understand him, funnily he also had a phrase book for talking English like I have an Italian one!
Ulio said about going to a club later which was literally right underneath our hotel! Quite annoying that me and Kim were both so knackered though as we didn't go in the end!
