Another eventful, once in a lifetime day today. Started off with a walking tour of the French quarters of New Orleans, which is the part that has kept its original French heritage. We had a gander at the French market, which is the oldest market in America (I believe that's what he said anyways) & then revisited Bourbon Street in the day light.
Tonight we went on a majestic river ride on the Mississippi River. It is the last authentic steamboat on the river, so it was a pretty special occasion. The music onboard was by Grammy nominated jazz band, Dukes of Dixieland & their finale was 'when the saints go marching in'.. That's one for the Southampton supporters! After dinner and a relaxed evening on the boat we headed to Frenchman Street which is the locals place to hang out as it's less mainstream and much more traditional jazz music. The atmosphere was brilliant, yet pretty scary!
Now for sleep as we have a long journey to Memphis tomorrow, which includes a trip to Elvis Presley's house!
Take care all, lots of love Katie xxxxxxxxx
