Hey all! I'm having the time of my life & seeing the most out of this world sights! After a long journey to New Orleans we stopped off to do an alligator swamp tour, which was such a thrilling experience! We saw so many including a 12ft one.. Gulp! They jump up the side of the boat to catch the marshmallows and hot dogs we had to feed them, it was terrifying to say the least! Throughout the tour you could see lake houses that were still ruined from hurricane Katrina 8 years ago & the swamp took the brunt of it too.
We carried the journey on to our hotel, which coming through New Orleans is a real eye opener! It's not the glamorous side to USA at all, let's just say that!
We went to this amaaaazing restaurant as a group to celebrate one of the girls birthdays & I had the best meal of my life- fresh seafood is a BIG thing here and the alligator tails for starter were a surprisingly yummy experience too! We the went on to the world famous Bourbon Street which is the birthplace of jazz! It is something else. Almost reminds me of Amsterdam/ a Malaga holiday! Live music everywhere (plus side) but prostitues and sex shows over power the street (bad side). Regardless though it was a brilliant night as everyone just loves to sing & dance... We learnt the 'Cubic shuffle' which is like our Macarena.
Anyways, so today we will be doing a tour of New Orleans and then perhaps a boat trip on the Mississippi River! Everywhere we go locals are saying 'be careful out there' in regards to New Orleans so I get the impression it's not the safest of places to be, so we've been given safety tips by our tour guide...
