hiya!!
after bangkok we headed up north to chang mai. We went on an overnight coach which took about 12hours and i managed to pick the worst seat, the window I sat next to had a huge crack all the way down it and i spent much of the journey worrying it would shatter over me. we spent the next day looking around chang mai, its very pretty much nicer than bangkok. katie had some issues at the guesthouse flushing away lol, about 100 flushes later the problem was solved. On tue we set off on our trek, first thing we did was elephant riding which was cool. The trek started really hard was not sure what we had let ourselfs in for, really steep hills and very slippy, as katie found out and managed to fall into an evill plant and was left with spikes and thornes stuck into her hands and legs. When we reached camp we swam in the river, had food and spent the night around the camp fire. day 2 was easier walking, although some bits were scary, we spent much of the day at a waterfall swimming. Again at camp we had food, swam in river and spent the night playing games. These hill tribe women came up and sang to us, you would think it would be very tunefull but it was awful hehe! Me and katie sang them our national anthem, kind of!! katie will finish the rest as i cant be bothered to write much more

That is pretty much it from the trekking apart from the bamboo rafting which was actually the best part. It started monsooning it down just before we went on so we were absolutely soaked through anyway. I expected a peaceful float down the river but because we were with a load of French they just couldnt except that the English were better so insisted on trying to bring us down. Made it more fun though. We won, of course but we came out bruised and even more wet. Had a panic when we came off because Toyah's bag had gone missing but it had been left in the car so she got it back pretty soon. Came back to our guesthouse in Chiang Mai and had a much needed shower. Three days trekking and no shower, just pond water left ya pretty stinking. Went alog to the night market on the night too which was much better than stuff in Bangkok and bumped into some Danish girls we met on the trek so went for food with them.
The next day we began our travels. 16hour train ride down to Bangkok ( we had a bed each though so was pretty good and saved on any accomodation). Just in Bangkok now waiting around for tonight to catch a night bus and then ferry down to the islands for some relaxation and to get a tan. Sick of Thai people laughing at our white skin haha. We'll write soon. Lots of lovexxxxxxxxxxxx
