Hi All...well I have done sooooo much since the last blog entry that to write it all would bore you all to tears...so I'm just gonna outline some of it!
So moved from lovely coogee back to sydney where we stayed in a nice hostel and shared a room with 2 italian guys...(me and mike still debating whether they were gay or not). Was pretty cool as had it's own bar. Did a Blue Mountains trip and stopped on the way at a wildlike park where we fed kangaroos!! And i got to stroke a Koala named Don!! Ths was possibly best part of the day!
Back on to the bus and off into the Blue Mountains...amazing views but was a bit foggy which did hinder the ol photography skills somewhat...rode on the steepest train in the world - literally vertical! And then did a cable car (i hate cable cars - can't imagine a worse place to get stuck) but this one offered amazing views of all the trees and rainforest below and the waterfall so was worth doing!) Oh and a fly flew in my nouth - bloody things were everywhere...but this wasn't part of the wildlife tour - Just a nice freebie!
Then back on the bus for the last time where they took us to a little vineyard in a place called Tizzane...was beautiful and got to do a bit of wine tasting which was cool.
Spent a few days wondering around sydney again - sunbathing and going to the beach when ever the weather was good enough. Then moved to the fabulously seedy Kings X with prostitutes at every corner and kebab shops open 24/7. Seriously what more could a girl ask for!! Luckily our apartment is just far enough away to be away from the noise but close enough to the nightlife to roll home!
Apartment is wonderful - Own bathroom for first time in 6 weeks!!! Bliss! And have a kitchen so we are saving loads of money cooking own meals...I say we loosely as the extent of Mikes cooking is beans on toast...and he only made that for himself!!
Have had a fair few good nights out in Kings X...found a club that serve drinks in tea pots...Yes actual teapots!! Spent xmas eve in very cheesy bar but had great evening and then had to once again run home in monsoon style rainstorm!
Xmas Day was possibly weirdest xmas I am ever likely to have! Got up early to get to old hostel and jump on bus to bondi! Xmas lunch was particularly depressing consiting of cold meat and salad...and the xmas puddings were hard enough to use as weapons!
But things started to look up when we met a crowd of real east london girls...2 of them from lime-ouse...can't put the H because thats not how they said it! We sat around playing drinking games...surprisinglyour scottish mate knew plenty! Bondi has a strict no drinking policy on xmas day...i suspect to stop drunken travellers such as ourselves being a nuisance....but the police were very good spririted and left us alone until we got really noisy! And even then they had their photo taken with us! (As did a few chinese tourists...very random...but we were a sight all covered head to toe in tinsel and singing xmas songs) When all the goon (Goon is what they call the wine out here...you buy it in 2 litre boxes that have a tiny tap on so you can imagine what it tastes like) So when all the goon was gone we were off to the party on the pavillion. Had an amazing 8 hours of non-stop dancing - The crowd we met really made our xmas...by the time the end of the day came we had grown and now consited of 2 northeners, 4 london lasses, an irish guy, a scottish guy and me and mike! I can honestly say I don't think I'll ever have another xmas quite like that one...ended up in McDonalds at midnight and then fighting to get on the bus home...very xmassy!
Spent boxing day recovering and then few days at the beach as Australia is finally living up to it's hot weather reputation! Absolutely scorhing and Mike burnt his face in the park. It was a constant struggle for me not to laugh when I looked at him for a good 24 hours whilst the after sun worked it's magic...He looked like a sundried tomato! Also had another night out with the guys from Xmas day which was cool...spent it looking for a club called chinese laundry that we evetually found but was closed so went down to a place on the harbour called cargo. There was a massive queue but the girls we were with are very part of the london scene and know how to talk there way in anywhere (prob helpd a bit that they are all stunning) so we got in a sneaky side entrance.
NYE we arranged to meet the same girls and guys from Xmas day and head to the Botanical Gardens!! Another early start to get to the gardnes and queue for a good spot! Found one queue that was ridiculously long and the heat was exhausting...thought of standing in it made me want to cry...but rang the girls and they had found a cheeky unknown queue only 2o mins long that lead us to the most amazing spot in the botanical gardens right beside the Opera House and in front of the bridge. Heat was nearly unbearable all day as we stepped on people and fought for the shade of branches!! At one point one of the london girls managed to buy a bag of ice and it was bliss...we were so hot it was melting as soon as you put it to yur skin (particularoly mikes face...could have probably cooked an egg on that)!.
So after a 10 hour wait we had the first set of fireworks at 9'0clock whoch were spectacular. Then some more drinking (couldn't take your own so had to queue at beer tent) Out came the party poppers, part hats and sparklers!! We all came prepared! Count down to 12 and oh my god the Fireworks were like nothing I had ever seen - they go off from the bridge, opera house and off the top of some of the tallest buildings in the city! It was quite emotional...and weird being with the girls and guys who we had made such good friends with and we knew it was our last outing with them and that we prob wouldn't se them again.
So my ydney xmas and New year...what can I say - Absoultely an experience I will never forget!!
Heading out of Sydney early tomorrow morning. Sydney is amazing and I have loved it but definitely time to move on...next stop is surf camp so hopefully next time I am writing I wil be a pro surfer!
Much love people and Happy New Year!!
