So latest activities peeps!!
Have been in Sydney city for a whole week. Been to the Opera House and out on the ferry across to some beaches (when the sun comes out). Wetaher is mad - Got stuck at Darliong Harbour one day in a very expensive bar whilst waiting for this monsoon style rainstorn to stop. Watched a comedian we had never heard of in th Opera House but thought couldn't pass up the chance to got to the opera house instead of standing outside like blatant tourists just taking photos!! He happened to be very good and we had another wicked night running around in the rain when we came out.
Went out at the wekend and experienced some of the infamous Kings Cross nightlife. Was great if you don't mind the odd teenager being sick by a tree and being pulled into strip clubs by seedy looking women. No seriously, there are some really nice, funky bars around here, one of which me and mike spent a fair amount of money in...had a wicked night and then long half hour walk home because we couldn't get a cab...but we were happy as it was warm and we both had subway to munch on! And not every day you get to walk through beautiful parks that you appreciate much more after a tipple of vodka on the way home.
Later in the week Mike finally convinced me to do the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb...i was slightly dubious seen as I am afraid of heights and this thing is about 150metres off the ground. Once all dressed in our all in one overalls and my borrowed specially gripped trainers we were all ready to go. Luckily we had a really good guide (ozzie guy caleed dael..I tried to tell him he had spelt it wrong but he wasn't having it) who told me about all the rusting rivets that should have been replaced ages ago so I felt much better...anyway all worrying was well worth getting to the top!! Shame you can't take your own camera (but some stupid people might drop it and cause catastrophic damage on motorway below...) Only had one white knuckle moment crossing the top of the bridge to come back down the other side...Mike was very supportive and only shook the walk way a couple of times before I threatened to throw him off!!
Me and Mike now currently in Cogee at hostel with only 2 toilets and 2 showers between about 30 of us...and there mixed...lovely!! Anyway on the upside weather today is blazing and we are about a 200m walk from the lovely beach!!
Lots of surfers around as waves at this beach are mental!! Knew it had to be pretty hardcore when the life guard announced over the loud speaker "there are some very strong rips today (ozzie's are so cool - us brits would call a rip an 'under-current') anyway - "some very strong rips today. If you find yourself caught in one of these rips please stay calm, let the rip take you, put your hand in the air and one of our lifeguards will come and get you"...oh great!! But what if your already under the water...can't put my hand up then can I!?!?
Did actually get to watch a save at Manly beach - guy came running down all david hasslehoff stylee whilst stripping off his gear and plunging into the water to save two girls who had been caught in one of these "rips"...was pretty cool!!
Here for a few more days and going to Bondi to meet up with a couple of guys we met there first time around tomorrow. Then back to the City for Xmas and New Year...so Merry Xmas everyone and I will write again soon.
Muchos Love xxxxx
