So we were expecting to get in to Ayutthaya about 5am. Thai trains however, rock up when they feel like it so the staff on the train told us that there was quite a way to go before we got there and to go back to sleep. Neither of us have had much sleep. Anyway, all of a sudden we were shouted at to get off the train and were unceremoniously dumped in ayuttaha. We ended up getting a Tuk Tuk to show us tithe places we really wanted to see. They were very old and very cool. Ayutthaya was the capital city of Thailand, however now it just sort of looks rather sad and deserted. While it's not very big all of the ancient sites were far apart. Also neither of us had slept the night before due to being on a sleeper train so we were both very tired and cranky. This was made worse by being told by the ticket people at the station that there were no tickets left that day to get down to krabi. Anyway, when we got the train down to Bangkok (3rd class, really sweaty and both of us starting to feel really rank) and thought we'd check out the ticket office in Bangkok, otherwise we would have had to stay overnight in Bangkok and then get the train the following day, which neither of us wanted to do. Anyway, as luck would have it there were tickets left on the train so we got those and I currently writing this from the bottom bunk of the beds.
