Our Shamrocker tour - in dot points:
- We saw lots of cliffs. Most?dramatic being the Cliffs of Moher as pictured above, although we spent most of it hiding behind the walls so we didn't get blown over. Funny photos of our hair. The most beautiful cliffs being from the Dingley Peninsula, looking out over the sea at the rock formations near land and looking back onto the green green fields and mountains of Ireland.
- We saw lots of tractors.
- We saw suicidal sheep - eating grass from the edges of cliffs.
- We were accosted by lots of creepy Irishmen.
- We drank lots of Guinness (well I did, Me as in Melissa, Kate is now a big fan of Bulmers and Baby Guinness shots - wicked). Our tour guide, Laura, is able to down a whole pint in one shot. Our driver likes to sit in high chairs and show off her underwear when she drinks half a pint.
- We noticed that the chatter grew more and more quiet every morning as a result of the last night's revelry.
- We realised the phrase 'four seasons in one day' does not only apply to Melbourne. At the monastery ruins of Clonmacnoise the beautiful sun suddenly turned into horrid, windy, galeforce rains, that not only turn umbrellas inside out, but twist them into curly ruins of metal and tattered material.
- We spent lots of time taking off and putting on layers of clothes because of the stupid stupid temperature changes.
- We walked around a Fairy Ring. We made wishes. Our good friend Martine made a specatcular wish. Brad and Angelina broke up.
- We hung upside down over the walls of a castle to kiss the Blarney Stone. Cheesy. Teeny, tiny, twisty, sprially staircases. Fun.
- We walked around 60 metres underground in the Mitchel Caves. We couldn't see our hands in front of our own faces in the dark sections. There were lots of stairs.
- We made lots of fabulous friends. Laura, tour guide, is 6ft2" and an absolutely adorable "good little irish catholic girl from dublin who doesn't cuss at all" she likes to say "feck" a lot. When tours finish and we go drinking she likes to change letters in her favourite word. Her comment to ask the single girls in the morning is "How many of ye picked up a farmer with a tractor last night?" the ratio of boys to girls in the country is 3:1. Woohoo! We met lots of Brisbane people;?Andy - Contiki driver guy who drank a lot - lots and lots; Juan who has a hilarious obsession with Chuck Norris action figures and likes to serenade people; Christelle - the sweetest South African to move to England - Little Miss Sunshine; Kev and Chris - the male versions of Kate and I - fun and fabulous; Nichole and Brendan - our ex-patriot friends with fabulous hair.
- We had an awesome time, very little sleep, made lots of good memories and lots of fun friends.
