So we have made it to Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand. Two long days on the slow boat but the scenary was lovely and wasnt too hard work sitting back watching the world go by! Its good to be back somewhere with reliable eletricity and working ATM's after a few dark nights in Laos! It was a long winding journey over the mountains from Vang Vieng to Luang Prabang but the scenary was absolutly stunning for the whole 6 hours but was pleased to make it one piece as our minibus driver thought he was racing a rally over the mountain passes! Luang Prabang is a lovely town with a fab night market and good restaurants. In the middle of town is a sacred hill which we climbed for fab views and a good warm up for our one day Trek we'd booked for today....

Spent a couple of days in Vientiane, which is more of a town than a capital city, some nice bars and restaurants but not much else there. We had to get our Thai visa's from the embassy which was chaos and took longer than we thought, will be pleased if we dont have to encounter any more embassies in the next 6 months - actually ever again!
