We are in Laos and already love it here, very laid back, stunning landscape and the people are so friendly. Spent a couple of days in Vientiane, which is more of a town than a capital city, some nice bars and restaurants but not much else there. We had to get our Thai visa's from the embassy which was chaos and took longer than we thought, will be pleased if we dont have to encounter any more embassies in the next 6 months - actually ever again! We visited a budda park, which had some great photo oppurtunities and best of all we drove past the Beer Lao factory...highlight of Grahams travels so far?!! We are now in Vang Vieng which is a really beautiful town set along a river and mountains. Was an experience in itself getting the local bus for the 4hr ride here, crammed amoungst bags of rice, floor tiles, crates of drinks and anything else they fancied stopping to collect on the way! Tubing is the main attraction, imagine massive inflatable tubes, lots of drunk backpackers, spray paint, mud pits and huge ziplines into the river and you can understand the craziness of floating down a fast/filthy river being pulled into bars on the way! It was a brilliant day and the memory of floating back to the town as the sunset, covered in mud, having enjoyed far too many drinks is definatly not going to be forgotten. :-)
