Hey!
Just a quick blog this time to recap our time in Turkey. Turkey was an amazing cultural experience as it was a place like nowhere we had ever been before. It definitely exceeded all expectations and Istanbul was the complete opposite to Athens! We loved spending time there and would definitely like to go back and do more of the country another time.
* We had 3 days in Istanbul taking in all the sights: The Blue Mosque, Topkapi Palace, Aya Sofya and the Grand Bazaar. Aya Sofya was the standout. It was originally a church in 532AD then became a mosque and is one of the biggest buildings we have ever been into. Was pretty remarkable.
* Last Monday we jumped on a tour to Gallipoli with fellow Ausies, Kiwis and one American. Was a pretty interesting drive there (driver going 140kms weaving in and out of traffic). When we (finally) got there we had a guided tour around all the sites: Anzac Cove, Lone Pine, the Turkish cemetery etc. Our tour guide was a young Turkish guy so it was really interesting hearing stories from the Turkish perspective. The place itself looked heaps like W.A and reminded us both of Esperance (water, landscape etc) It was a 5 hour drive each way and so a massive day but well worth it. A highlight for sure.
Have spent the last 2 days in London at Bel and Matts pad and we leave for Montreal, Canada tomoz for the International Jazz festival...oh yeah...should be good
