Katie’s Aimless Wanderings
The hotel we are staying in is very strange- it looks gorgeous outside with bougainvillea dripping from balconies, a thermal spring to swim in and a 450 year history. Get inside and Ghost Hunters would have a field day. I have a four poster bed which I can't get onto unless I take a 6 foot running jump from the door. There is also a very creepy looking crib which is good for hanging clothes on but too spooky for my liking. It is exactly like the crib in the coaching inn I used to stay in for work which used to rock of its own accord. Random dogs race in and out of various doors and take circuit sprints round the kitchen and there are crab-like buggy things chilling out in everyone's rooms. Look deeper though and they have a gorgeous old converted flour mill and a huge fluffy Alsatian. As my door closes with a huge gap, I was hoping he would come in and sleep with me but he must have had a better offer.
We were picked up this morning for our tour of the town. Its not big and we saw most of it last night, having a bottle of wine in the main square. The whole place is so perfect it looks like a film set with the Andes as the backdrop. A bit too perfect for me, there needs to be a kebab van on the corner, Mr Miah with his chicken jalfrezi and a Polish supermarket for me to feel more at home here. We wandered around the streets admiring the pretty cobblestones and trying to avoid going into any museums. Then a vineyard was mentioned and we all suddenly sprang into action. 3 of us drove out munching arepas to an award winning vineyard mainly for the wine guzzling.
We were shown some vines and big barrels and then taken for some wine tasting which was more like it. Then back to the hotel where there is a film crew staying who look like they haven't washed for days ( probably haven't as there is no water in most rooms after a horse trod on the pipes). I am now off for a swim in the thermal pool and expecting it to be nothing less than boiling.

Edna Wow, sounds like you are having a great time even if the place is a little strange. Really looking forward to seeing all the photos when we meet up and hope the swim was exhilerating
Kaye Tom Cruise is filming in Colombia at the moment - may be worth stalking the crew for more info. Guessing the beds at hotel would not be to his liking! Buenos noches
Kaye's Mum Trust Kaye to know Tom Cruise was filming in Colombia I assume with his dogs?? Love your photo's - where are the locals - was it siesta time?
Tim Drew I was getting tempted until you mentioned 'no running water' Now it is turning into a traditional Kate holiday! What's arepas?
Iain Great photos x
Kaye's Mum Kaye has informed me that it was Johnny Depp not Tom Cruise who brought his dogs illegally into Australia.
Bernice Looks amazing! Love the idea of staying in a haunted place xx
Di Katiepoops ... I hope the crab like buggy things are less adept than you at bed launching manoeuvres !! xxx
