We had a great day...lots of sightseeing. What a beautiful city this is. The architecture is so interesting and varried. One charming apartment building after another and you can't believe how many apartments have Catalan flags hanging proudly from their balconies!! Catalan pride is thick in the air here...I love it! I think the highlight of our sightseeing was the Sagrada Familia, but I think the high point for Gary was seeing the HUGE soccer stadium! This stadium hold 100,000 fans and is always sold out! Maybe someday we will come back for a game! After a long day of sightseeing we sat in the little plaza around the corner from our apartment and shared a bottle of wine. Suddenly the skies started crackling with huge thunder and lightening! It was a magnificent electrical storm, then the skies opened up and torrents of rain poured down... Everyone grabbed their wine glass and we ran into the closest restaurant where we huddled in the doorway, laughing like crazy and looking like drowned rats! As it was too early for dinner, we made our way home, had another bit of wine and waited for the rain to pass before heading out to dinner. We had a fabulous dinner of large dinner size tapas at Taller Tapas which I highly recommend to anyone heading to Barcelona...each plate was more delicious than the preceding one! Home and into bed for one last night in our apartment - tomorrow we board our cruise ship...but first we will have to get all our suitcases down those steep narrow stairs...oh well, we will worry about that tomorrow!
