We are pulling out of port, heading for our first stop in Valencia! The ship is so calm and we saw rain off in the distance with a rainbow right where we are headed...surely a good omen! Later we were treated to the most amazing lightening storm off in the distance. It was sheet lightening that lit up the entire sky (no rain for us though, just the amazing light show!!). People were out on the decks, wine glasses in hand cheering for the lightening!!)

We took the Crystal shuttle into town and just wandered and poked around this nice little town...it just feels so "Mediterranean"...Palm trees, tile roofs, buildings with wooden shutters on the balconies. The old part of town consists of a big plaza surrounded by a plethora of Catholic churches! Today is Monday and the Mass at 11am was packed...SRO! Lenore managed to slide with all the locals in and receive Communion.

Life boat drill! This reminds me of fire drills in elementary school! The alarm sounded (7 short horns then 1 long horn), we donned our lovely "Mae West" life preservers and found our way to our muster station. Gary was in the lead for our end of the hall and we all took off following him to the end of the hall toward the bow of the ship (as indicated on the map in our room). The door was closed and fastened with one of those big wheels like you see on submarin...
Wow...our ship, the Crystal Serenity is fantastic, but more about that later when we embark this evening. But now it is all about the great guided tour we took of La Sagrada Familia. We left the ship with 17 others and took a super nice tour bus through the city until we arrived at this magnificent basilica. We had an amazing tour guide who shared soooo... much info with us about the city of Barcelona and the church in particular. What a masterpiece this Gaudi j...
