Life boat drill! This reminds me of fire drills in elementary school! The alarm sounded (7 short horns then 1 long horn), we donned our lovely "Mae West" life preservers and found our way to our muster station. Gary was in the lead for our end of the hall and we all took off following him to the end of the hall toward the bow of the ship (as indicated on the map in our room). The door was closed and fastened with one of those big wheels like you see on submarine movies. Gary "bravely" spun the wheel with authority until the door opened and we followed him out...only to realize we were in the wrong spot - we had followed our fearless leader through the wrong door!! Oh oh...we were doomed...I could hear the theme from The Titanic in my head!!!
Quickly we turned around and the guy at the back of the line suddenly was our new leader and we found the right stairwell to lead us down 4 floors below to our muster station in the Starlight Lounge where role was called, then we were lead to our respective lifeboats. Good news is that our assigned lifeboat is the closest to the muster station. Lenore and I had a good giggle over the statement of the Italian captain of the Costa cruise ship that said he "fell" into a lifeboat when he crashed his ship into rocks off the coast of Italy and sunk his ship. I mean, honestly, the life boats are totally enclosed - there is NO WAY you could "fall into" one!
The drill was fun...sure hope we never need to do it for real!
