Hello everyone! Just thought we'd update our journal to let you all know how we are getting on! We decided to stay on in Koh Chang for a few more days due to our s***ty start (literally)!! On one of the days we hired a moped and took a look round the island. We found a place called Lonely Beach which was beautiful! It had powder white sand, crystal clear water and stunning scenery! We chilled out there for a few hours then rode down to a quaint little fishing village called Bang Bao. Which is all built along an old rickety wooden pier!
On one of the other days we went on a boat trip to visit four little islands. One of the guides took a shine to us and took us snorkelling around one of them. He was diving down to the sea bed and bringing different things up for us to see and touch. When Kathy went to touch a sea cucumber the guide made her scream by pretending it was going for her!! Back on the boat another of the guides was catching fish for our bbq. He let us have a go, but we were both useless. As we didn't want to starve we left it up to the expert! We got dropped off at one of the islands. It was like our own private beach! While we were playing in the sea Ricky kicked a sea urchin which had really long spikes and one of them stabbed him in his little toe!! But he was very brave and he didn't cry (much)!
From Koh Chang we went back to Bangkok for a couple of days where we did some sightseeing. We went to the Grand Palace, hired a long tail boat and went along the river and through the canals and in the evening we went to see a Thai boxing match!
After Bangkok we travelled west to Kanchanaburi. While we were there they had a festival on depicting the second world war. We went on a boat to the bridge on the River Kwai. Where they put on a light and sound show! We stayed there for three more days. While we were there we visited the Death Railway Museum and Hellfire Pass which was very interesting and quite moving. We also visited the tiger temple which was really cool being so close to the tigers and being able to stroke them ( brave ragh!!)! We also went to the hot springs and went swimming in the river! Then we went to Erawen falls which is over 2000m with 7 tiers! It was a bit of a trek up to the top, but it was well worth it!!
From Kanchanaburi we travelled to Phuket which took 16hrs by bus (that was a long one Nora)! For the first couple of nights we stayed in Pattong and then we travelled down south to meet up with our friend Sophie! While we were there we didn't do alot apart from chilling out on the beaches and topping up our tans!
Currently we're in Krabi where we're going to spend xmas. On xmas day we might take a boat trip to Koh Phi Phi or we might go rock climbing. We haven't decided yet (it depends how bad our hangover is)!
We wish you all a very merry christmas and a happy new year!!!! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
