I woke up around 7:30 and went up to the lounge to blog and watch the waves. Around 10am Newfoundland time we docked and were on our way. We opted to drive to Cape Spear after a quick stop at Wendy's in Mount Pearl for lunch. It was foggy when we arrived, but after touring the lighthouse and surrounding bluffs a lot of the fog had lifted. No whales were seen. But a beautiful spot nonetheless!
Then we drove into St. John's and visited the Quidi Vidi Brewing Company. A beautiful spot to taste their 7 beer. It was an awesome experience and I would recommend it to anyone. Hilarious and informative history of the beer and the surrounding area!
After Quidi Vidi we checked into our double residence room at Memorial University and finally showered and changed, which was wonderful after the overnight on the ferry. My friend Rachel (from Trent) picked us up for dinner and took us to Yellow Belly where we had great pizza and nachos and, of course, more beer. Rachel then took us to George Street to show us the hot spots. There was a great live band at Shamrock City and a bachelor party that gave almost everyone in the bar free beer.. I got extra when he spilled the tray all over me. From there we met her friend and visited Rob Roy's the Thursday night hot spot for 345. (3 drinks for $5). Laurel's coworker was there and I got to meet many locals! It was a late night of George St adventuring. But definitely a great first day in St. John's.
