Hellooo everyone!
So as you may have noticed I spent my weekend in London. And what a weekend! I'd been meaning to catch up with Mel and Daise over here at some point, and they were very hospitable to me :)
My plane landed on Friday night at around 5:45p.m. From here I navigated my way to their closest tube stop. The tube was a piece of piss after having mastered the metro in Paris. So far I've found that the public transport in Europe's capital cities is ridiculously good, almost as good as s***ty Rail back home in Sydney...almost!
We had a pretty chilled night on Friday, because we wanted to be fit to do some sight seeing on Saturday. So we just went out for dinner, watched some telly and hit the sack. Not gonna lie, I was freezing my doodle off even with two blankets on! London's not the warmest place this time of year, that's for sure.
So on Saturday we set out to see Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, London Eye and Buckingham Palace, and then to do some shopping. We walked through Hyde Park which was very beautiful and well looked after. Then we arrived at Buckingham Palace. WOW, It's huge. Like seriously Queen Elizabeth? Nobody needs a house THAT big. I bet she hasn't even been in all the rooms. Nice crib though, I'll give her that. I loved watching the guards with their funny little hats, missed the changing of the guards this time round though :(
We didn't go inside the Westminster Abbey (which in case you didn't know, is where all the royals get hitched!) because it cost 18 pounds! Rip off much. But from the outside it was very pleasing to the eye, haha. We watched Big Ben chime 12, he donged 12 times it was great!
After that we hit up Leicster Square and Oxford Street for some shopping. Wow, the shopping was incredible. So so many shops, 2, 3 and even 4 stories high. One shop even had a DJ mixing beats on the bottom floor. So many shoes, clothes, and people! The 'emergency' credit card copped a bit of a flogging this weekend, but my wardrobe is looking mighty fine.
On Sunday we were going to head to a party at The Church but none of us were feeling up to it, so we chilled out at home for a bit, then I went shopping around Mel and Daise's house and found a few more bits and pieces :) Then I went to meet up with Luka, who lived about an hour away and I stayed at hers on Sunday night. We had dinner at an Aussie pub then she showed me around a few different places as well.
On Monday I made my way back towards Mel and Daise's in Chiswick, where I had to pack my backpack with more than double what I had came with. I think it's a magical backpack, just when you think it can't fit anymore it secretly expands until you're finished packing. I looove my backpack! And I love my airline for not having a weight limit, I nearly died carrying it back to the airport. Before I caught my plane I decided to stop in at a hairdressers for a quick wash and cut. I've been seeing the same hairdresser for 6 years with good reason (Hi Kristy-Lee! :P ) So this was a big step for me, but I and my hair survived!
I made it to the airport with just half an hour to spare, the latest I've ever been for a flight in my life! But I'm back in Germany now safe and sound, I had a great weekend away catching up with some familiar faces, but I'm ready for the next trip to Prague this weekend! For those of you playing along at home it's my birthday on Sunday, so I will be celebrating Czech style :) I have a feeling the next blog will be well worth reading!
Kids and family are still great as well, I'm loving life!
