After leaving Waitomo (the place of the wonderful glow worms) I headed to smelly Rotorua for two nights. Roturua is famous for its geothermal activity, hot springs and volcanic landscapes, the sulphur being the reason I say smelly Rotorua! On my first night here I went to Tamaki Maori village where I got to experience some traditional Maori customs - the Haka being one of many! We finished off the night with a beautiful meal cooked using the traditional Hangi method and lots of singing. I spent the following day following beautiful walks around lake Rotorua. Next stop Taupo where I plunged head first (literally) into a skydive over lake Taupo, my first skydive and I have to say definitely won't be my last, what an absolutely class experience with spectacular views! Yesterday I competed the tongariro crossing in 6 hours roughly, some challenging climbs in 30 degree heat but the views were more than worthwhile. Staying in Taupo two more days to chill out and soak up the scenery..
