To pick up where I left off, from Wellington we caught the ferry to the South Island landing in a small place called Picton to carry on our journey to the first stop in the South Island, Kaiteriteri. Kaiteriteri is a very small place just on the cusp of the Abel Tasman national park, New Zealand's smallest but most visited national park. My second day in Kaiteriteri I got an aqua taxi into the national park and did a half day walk through lush forest and golden beaches (I'm not exaggerating this sand is actually golden!). On our way back we luckily spotted quite a few seals and their pups hanging out on the rocks. Anyone who knows me since childhood will know of my obsession with Andre the film and my subsequent dreams of moving to Maine and housing a pet seal in my bathtub - naturally seeing seals was quite exciting for me. On the walk I met an awesome couple Tom and Ally who I have ended up hanging out with up to this point. It was in Kaiteriteri that I also met my Swedish house mafia - Victoria and Maddie, sweet as bro! After Kaiteriteri we headed to a small town called Westport taking in the epic scenery along the way and squeezing in a few walks when we could. Sadly my surfing lesson in Westport was cancelled due to sketchy weather...but I'm determined I'm going to fall in love with this sport so I have contacts further along the track to give me lessons! Next up Mahinapua where we had an epic dinner and an even more epic murder mystery night which involved much dancing. I'll tell you something for nothing, those swedes know how to break it down. My moves paled into insignificance! I am currently in Franz Josef which requires a whole section of its own...
