Today started in NC. After goodbyes I hit the road. But I had to make a quick detour to vote. The best thing I heard in a while was an elderly lady in front of me registering to vote. She kept spouting off "can I vote straight republican? I'm going to vote straight republican because that's how my parents did it. Wait what party is Obama?" DOH!! Got to love the informed public.
But before I was on the road for less than 20 mins I had a hitchhiker. An evil bug hitchhiker I named Vernon. He has the size of a quarter with weird looking eyes and legs and just a very sinister appearance. Vernon decided to climb out of my vents and give me the stink eye from the passenger-side dash. I gave him a open window and a threat to swat him with my road map. Didn't scare Vernon. So I pulled over to the closest rest area, got out and asked some gentlemen for some assistance in disposing of my evil hitchhiker. As soon as I show them, Vernon had launched phase 2. Disappear and make me look like a fool. Well played Vernon, well played. So after the kindly gents had a good laugh at my expense, I proceeded to continue my trip. As I'm merging onto the highway, my windshield gets pummeled with a huge rock leaving a big ole crater of a crack. I tell you this Vernon was diabolical in his planning of torturing of me. Truly evil, especially in his timing of events.
The rest of my journey was uneventful, beautiful scenery, good tunes. Now I'm resting my weary soul in Cookeville, TN with dollar beer and a good nights rest.

Aunt Donna I'm enjoying reading about the journey. Keep up the posts and pictures. Hey, where's a picture of Vernon. I don't believe he exists. :)
kateg I was too scared he would attack me while driving to get his picture. But his horrid memory is forever etched in my mind. See you soon!!
