Hey all, writing this the day before my birthday! Hope you all remembered :-)
Since our last blog, we spent one more day in Chiang Mai, just waliking around the city, and found a place to get a free fish spa for 10 minutes, You put your feet into a tank, and lots of little fish nibble your dead skin! Its a very strange feeling :-)
After Chiang Mai, we took a 21 hour bus journey to Luang Prabang in Laos. 6 hours to the Laos border, then a 15 hour bus journey through the night. It was pretty boring, and very uncomfortable, trying to sleep on normal bus seats, not even reclining. :-) Neither was there a toilet on board! So occasionally we stopped on the side of the road, for people to relieve themselves. :-)
In Luang Prabangm, the weather was unbelievably hot! Kate reckons the hottest shes ever been in. We walked around the city, which has a really nice old town, with loads of temples in, and wlaked up a hill in the centre of the town, for a great view of the city. In the evening there is an amazing night market, which sells loads of local products, and we went to a really cool bar called Utopia in the evening, where you can watch the sun set over the river.
The day after that (yesterday) we went on an afternoon trip to the Kwang Si Waterfalls. They are amazing! They go on for about a 100 meters or so, with about 7 or so pools of really clear blue water, with waterfalls between them. There is a larger pool at the end, where you can jump in off a waterfall, about 5 meters tall, or go in off a rope swing.
Today, we went on a small trip across the river to a little village called Xiang Men, where there are some abandoned temples, and some caves, which go down very deep. We have also moved to a much nicer hostel for 2 nights for my birthday, (kate's paying). There is air con, which is a first, and no bugs, ubnlike our last hostel where the main light didnt work, you couldn't turn the bathroom light off, there were bugs, dodgy electrics, a power cut this morning, and we got locked out of our bathrrom for the night!
We ate at the night market tonight, where we had the best spring rolls ive ever had! Dipped in a chilly peanut sauce, an appla cake, then a yellow curry and sticky rice.
Tomorrow my birthday, we are going to have a lie in, eat lots of good food, and probably go back to the waterfalls, then a sunset cruise on the river, and out for a posh meal.
The day after,w e leave for Vang Vieng, where we go tubing on the river!
Hope everyone reading this is ok,
Cya

Alex C Reading this pisses me off. The only thing you've described thus far that I don't think I also did last year was go to Utopia. It was even me and Jess's anniversary, so we had a nice hotel for a night as well. I'm sat in Wycombe in my pants, bite me.
