Well it's been a while since I sat down to write - but we're still here! Rick is working very hard and is way too busy - he's currently in Sydney and then Canberra for the week, and I'm on a deadline to get an assignment done for uni......I'm still volunteering at the RSPCA and the weather here has taken a turn - rain and cool weather has been nice.
Mum & Dad came over with Bec for a week recently, so we decided that for my parents first trip together overseas we'd show them more than just Singers. Dad of course insisted on Chili crab asap, so we indulged at a local restaurant we've discovered which makes the most amazing crab dish for about half the price of anywhere else! Dad was in heaven and Bec fell in love with the noodles again.
We did a Bum Boat ride on the river and showed them the sights, and then finished the quays with an indian meal Mum still hasn't stopped talking about - any recipies for goat curry would be greatly appreciated! As you can see Bec seems to have grown another inch in height - something Grannie wasn't too pleased about - soon to be the shortass of the family again!!!!
We took the Sentosa cable car to look at the island and even convinced Mum & Dad to come on the 4D ride - even though Mum kept her eyes closed the whole time!
Then we did a big car trip to Melaka and KL - a cosy experience, but we had a ball - walking through local markets where they processed chickens, shredded fresh coconut and sold fresh veges. We also discovered Petaling St in KL - a great place to go for shopping, where Bec discovered Gucci - perhaps setting ourselves up for an expensive future, but not if she can stick with the fakes! So with her handbag and suitcases in tow, she cuts quite a sight.
For my birthday we all went to Raffles for a buffet lunch, with as much Verve Cliquot as we could drink - a four hour stuff-a-thon which was an experience of a lifetime. Bec discovered a love of champagne - yet another nail in our coffin and Mum revelled in another one of her dreams fulfilled.
For the last day, we did brekkie with the organgutans, and Mum and Bec got to feed the elephants before we spent the day walking around the zoo. It poured with rain for awhile, but because it was cool most of the animals were out and about so we had a great day.
So by the time they went home, everyone was very tired and we sent Mum home with a nasty dose of the flu! We had a wonderful holiday, and I had a big cry at the airport - what a wuss I know! I think it's just whet Mum and Dad's appetite for travel in Asia, so who knows where they'll go next!
Rick and I are going to Bali in August for a long weekend with Annie and Richard and then we're off to Cambodia for a holiday in October - I can't wait to see Ankor Wat (I know I spelt that wrong). In November we're back in Aus for Richard's 50th and I'm going to spend some time in Sydney catching up with all the girls. So lot's more travel and we'll keep you posted! Take care xxx
