After a pretty lazy day yesterday exploring Puerto Iguazu (which is a really nice town, very quiet and laid back despite having a major tourist attraction just down the road!), we wanted some excitment so we toddled off to Iguazu National Park.
We got a transfer to the falls from the hostel at 9am and then with the mini-bus driver saying he´d be back at 5pm, we were left to do our own thing. As we wandered into the park we saw some people around a tree where there was a toucan but unfortunately it flew away before i could get a picture!
We went to a tourist infomation desk to get a map of the park and the guy was really helpful, we had intended to do the devils throat (the main waterfall) first but he told us not to saying that the sun is in the wrong place for your photographs and that everyone rushes there first so it´s really busy. We were a bit apprehensive because the couple in our dorm had done it the day before and had run out of time before they got to see it, never the less, we took his advice and headed for the lower circuit walk first.
The beggining of the walk was just a path through forest area, then we were able to hear the falls as as we walked around a corner we could see it in the distance-it looked amazing! There were lots of steps which took us to the base of the falls-i can´t begin to explain it-have a look at the photos! We took a boat to an Island from which there was another waterfall; i think there is something like 80 waterfalls...after the lower circiut walk we had a speed boat ride which was awsome if not a little overpriced, the guy took us right into the waterfall and we all got drenched! It just didn´t last long enough, we were on the boat less than 10 minutes, but it was fun!
After lunch we took the train to the devils throat, the main waterfall. This was crazy! Tons and tons of water rushing over, if you looked down from the platform all you could see was white mist. It really was increadable!!! We managed to find the talest guy on the platform and asked him to take a photo which was cool...to be continued...people are getting really arsy because they want to use the computer xx
