Greetings from salzburg! gah, another day another city, we i have to think harder about where i am every day due to the confusion so please appreciate the effort it takes just to write the "current location" part of tis message.
Apologies to our regular viewers who missed our blog last night (we have recieved some complaints) but we actually did something yesterday and so we felt we couldnt do it justice in our tired state of minds...(aka, CBA for those hip enough to know msn speak...lad)., Anyway ye ventured out of our palace of a hostel, (after sleeping in our sheets that came vacuum packed in plastic no less) and went off to explore Vienna. Vienna is very nice but really it didnt have anything that made us turn into full on tourists with cameras out etc and there are loads of statues...everywhere! You couldnt name a single person in austria who isnt depicted in statue for. Well that was the boring bit of the day, the excitement began shortly after the sight seeing....
We found ourselves wandering through a shopping place thingy and i turned to see a second hand computer type shop. I glanced in the window and saw a gameboy with marios six gold coins game attached. I thought back to childhood memories and the joy and pleasures that this past time gave me. I then proceeded to look at the price tag and found that combined it was a price of 32 euros =O! This is immense i thought, if we spli it thats 16 euros each which is hours worth of train journey gone. Kate was a big pleb though and the shop was closed anyway so we didnt get it but ive got an hour on this comp so you know about it nnow
THEN we crossed the road, well we nearly did but we were stopped by some strange austrian people who gave us presents of PEPPERS! Lovely green peppers in a little box thing that explained why they are giving out peppers but it was in german so we still dont know. But we have two extra peppers that we dont need to buy so we thank vienna for our shiney green and best of all free, peppers =). peppers.
Well yes that was vienna, not very impressive really, if you are a fan of statues then it cant be missed....
We hopskied onto a train to salzburg where we were treated to an emergency stop on a train! This was immense as it was clearly trying to stop in a hurry but it took about 400 meters. We dont know why it had to stop in such a rush but it was exciting.
Salzburg., home of the sound of music and birthplace of mozart. Very nice indeed so far...we had a wander by the river, i found a shop that sells rubiks cubes 4x4 instead of 3x3 which is quite frankly immense! Also lots of mini violins and austrian dolls and stuff. We stood on the steps that they danced on in the sound of music as well! Immense, and we found that they are really slippy and i dont know how they danced on them, Julie andrews is now even more of a legend.
Tomorrow we're being proper travelers and exploring the places that we go to and so we are seeing the salt mines, a museum, a toy museum =O, and going up on a cable car to somewhere that has a good view and than collapsing in a well explored heap =)! (we are even writing an itinery tonight so uncle tim should be proud).
Anyhoo, im sure you will have realised that this is a ramble and not actually informative so i will stop and leave you to your usual pass times (Oh and i beat kate at cards for the third time yesterday, current score kate, 411. mel, 3. Just watch me claw my way back!)
cheerio pipip!
xxxxx
OH and news on the washing front...we washed our clothes in a GENUINE washing machine yesterday AND dried them in a wonderful machine called a TUMBLE DRYER! We no longer smell like cheese WOOP! although our feet are becoming a disgrace and we are wondering whether we will be allowed into places of worship with such ungodly smelling limbs...
also we did actually attempt to put pics of us looking ravishing as usual...(not) but were having technological difficulties, so you´ll all have to hang on in there until we can master the art of using austrian computers!!
