Chiang Mai is a fairly small city, with plenty of temples to visit and famous night markets. We went to the Sunday Walking Market. It was lucky that I felt poorly as otherwise I would've spent a fortune!!! On Our only full day in Chiang Mai, we rented our first scooter. It took Ed about 20 mins to get used to it and it was a bit of bumpy start but once we got going it was great! We did the Samoeng loop which takes you on a trip of 100km north of Chiang Mai through orchid farms elephant sanctuaries and local villages. We stopped off at a waterfall en route which was fairly deserted to we pretty much had the pools to ourselves to swim in. The ride was extremely picturesque and very enjoyable and was incredible way to discover northern Thailand. We arrived back in Chiang Mai about 6 hours later and enjoyed a feast of food as we were starving! We then had a quiet evening and watched a film.
The next day was spent pottering around the city and I enjoyed an hour long thai massage before we got on the bus for 3 and a half hours to the small town of Pai.
